TWG and the Irish Georgian Society, Dublin’s Architectural Gems. On 11th of November, we had a wonderful talk by Donough Cahill. Executive Director of the Irish Georgian Society. He explored "Dublin’s Architectural Gems." and the captivating history of Dublin's significant Georgian buildings, uncovering the stories behind grand townhouses and hidden architectural treasures.
TWG Wine Tasting
On November 20th, we gathered in the Senior Common Room for a relaxed wine-tasting evening led by Dr Edward Arnold, Assistant Professor in French and European Studies. The event highlighted wines from various vineyards. Several wines were from vineyards run by women. Edward shared practical tips for selecting wines, especially for festive gatherings.
Celebrating 100 Years of University Women
On 11th of Oct TWG had the honor to launch the Centenary of the Irish Federation of University Women. Provost Dr Linda Doyle officially open the occasion as she reiterated the message to jam open the doors for the generations behind us. Mary McAleese, former President of Ireland and Chancellor of Trinity and Orla Feely, President of UCD also had empowering messages.
TWG Summer Gathering
TWG’s Summer Gathering did not fail to disappoint. We had a blast at the Provost’s House and Gardens and raised money for Trinity Access Programmes at the same time, not to mention receiving an excellent house tour and enjoying some magnificent music from harpist Aine Ni Dhubhghaill.
Elevate Your Voice with Maria Tecce
Maria Tecce’s workshop for TWG looked at improving our public speaking abilities. Maria talked us through various techniques to improve our confidence when public speaking. She focused on the power of our voice, our breath and our physical presence to instil confidence, authenticity, and passion. In true TWG fashion, this session offered a space to explore and grow in a comfortable, no judgement setting.
TWG & The Hist celebrate International Womens Day
International Women’s Day March 2024. The Hist debate in association with Trinity Women Graduates. College Historical Society (The Hist), Trinity College Dublin celebrated pioneering women in Trinity, So many wonderful stories were celebrated including the staff campaign to win pay and pension equality
We were advised by the impressive panel that no matter how proud we are of advances made we still have so much to do. We were encouraged to stop looking to be included in current systems. But to challenge the systems, rip them up and create better ones. We were reminded that some women don’t even have their basic needs met they cannot be left behind. In conclusion there was a call to action to create new visions and tangible actions to ensure continued equality. For Trinity we are happy to support a goal to increase the number of female TAP
